Curricular Summit
Under dark skies and torrential rains, the 1st Annual Curriculum Summit took place at the Harrison Center for the Arts in downtown Indianapolis. Parents, community members, students, and staff all gathered to discuss what they believe are issues students should address through P3 projects.
The morning started with a “World Café” protocol during which participants discussed ideas around 3 guiding questions. The activity also had a social component where after each question everyone changed tables except the table mentor.
The afternoon was built around “Affinty Maps”. Here everyone had sticky notes and responded to the question, “What important topics/issues would you like to see young people contributing to?” After writing their ideas down, attendees placed them on paper mounted on the wall. Anyone could then begin to organize the ideas into groups.
From these activities, the staff of The Project School will begin to develop project curriculum (P3) around the topics identified by the community.
