This #GivingTuesday – Dec 2 – support robust and impactful arts education at TPS!


WHAT WE DO
As part of our founding educators' vision for our school, students at TPS experience four sessions of arts instruction each week – two each in visual and performing arts. Our extraordinary team of arts educators partner with classroom teachers to develop immediately relevant arts experiences that connect to classroom learning.

The overarching goal of our arts program is to seamlessly weave an appreciation for visual arts, music, theatre, and movement into the core educational experience of every student. Through this infusion, students are able process new knowledge on a deeper level, make connections between areas of study, and express their artistry in ways that are unique to them. Arts education supports social and emotional development; builds empathy and generates acceptance; improves school engagement and culture; and strengthens community and civic engagement.


WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
In the current climate of reduced funding for public education, many institutions across the state and nation are having to make very difficult decision to reduce or eliminate their arts programming. TPS remains firmly committed to what we provide for every one of our students, our families, and our community through our comprehensive visual and performing arts curricula. But with the funding challenges we are experiencing, we need visionary donors to help us bridge the gap, to ensure we will be able to continue making the arts a centerpiece of our curriculum. With your help, we can do it!


WHAT IT TAKES
The Arts Programming budget at TPS is $284,000 annually. Included in this amount are the salaries of our two extraordinary arts educators, our arts space rent and utilities costs, visual arts materials, instrument purchases, theatrical rights acquisitions, performance props and costumes, and more.


HOW YOU CAN HELP
Between #GivingTuesday (December 2) and the end of this calendar, we have a goal to raise 5% of our Arts budget ($14,000) to support our programming. These funds will allow us to continue providing robust and relevant experiences for every single student in our school, enabling them to use their hearts, minds, and voices to explore and positively impact their world through the arts.
