We are grateful to the USDA for providing two school years of free universal meals for all children in response to the pandemic. We do not believe (at this current time) that this effort will be continuing for 2022-2023.
The 2022-2023 free and reduced lunch application will become available in July. We will share it with all families and post it here as soon as we have it in hand.
We strongly encourage any families who believe they qualify to submit the application once it becomes available. Participation in the program not only provides reduced or free meals for qualifying families; it also eliminates costs to families such as annual school fees for materials and supplies, and reduces any fees for extracurricular programs offered by or through TPS. And having accurate information as a school about the number of qualifying families also creates opportunities for us to apply for data-based grants, which have a positive impact on the entire school community.
For information on free summer meals options:
Text “summer meals” or “verano” (for Spanish) to 914-342-7744 and receive an automated response to resources located near an address and/or zip code. The USDA National Hunger Hotline number has not changed. Individuals can still call 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE to speak with a representative who will find food resources such as meal sites, food banks, and other nearby social services.
